Please note: Virginia has not yet opened formal Requests for Applications for RHT funding.
The RHT Program is administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
- Funding will be distributed annually from Federal Fiscal Year 2026 through 2030
- Continued funding is contingent on a yearly federal performance and re-scoring process
To participate, states were required to submit applications in response to the federal Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) by November 5, 2025.
- Virginia successfully submitted its application and received a Notice of Award in December 2025, securing $189.5 million in first-year funding

- Virginia was awarded $189.5M for budget period one under RHTP
- There are five budget periods, recipients will have until the end of the following fiscal year (September 30) to spend awarded funding
- Funds that a State does not spend by the end of the following fiscal year, or that are not allocated by CMS will be redistributed in the upcoming fiscal year
